Praia do Norte, viewed from the Nazaré Lighthouse

I went to visit Praia do Norte, viewed from the Nazaré Lighthouse. Praia do Norte is world-famous for its giant waves, although not on this day.

It was a beautiful summer day. The sea was calm, inviting people to enjoy the beach rather than watch extreme surfing. From the lighthouse, the view stretches across the Atlantic Ocean, peaceful and far from intimidating. The weather was perfect, and visitors could simply relax while taking in the spectacular scenery.

With the giant waves absent, surfing was not the main attraction. Instead, what stood out were the rich red tones of the cliffs, the vibrant green of the surrounding landscape, and the endless blue of the Atlantic disappearing into the horizon.

I brought my Fujifilm X-T20 for another relaxed photography session and to test a few more film recipes while enjoying one of Portugal’s most iconic coastal viewpoints.

Praia do Norte is vast, open, and usually much quieter than the beaches on the other side of Nazaré. Even on a beautiful summer day, with calm seas and very few people, it is not considered a safe beach for swimming. There are no lifeguards on duty, and the Atlantic Ocean here can be unpredictable, with strong currents and powerful waves that can develop unexpectedly.

It is a beach best appreciated from the shore, where its immense scale, wild beauty, and untouched character make it one of the most impressive stretches of coastline in Portugal.

Afterwards, I made a few final refinements in Lightroom using my own preset ( NENO FUJI CLASSIC CHROM 1 ) to achieve the look I was aiming for.
